Musculoskeletal health

Musculoskeletal decline with age and its acceleration by disease. We are an ageing population with birth rate falling and life expectancy increasing. Age-related musculoskeletal decline is a significant contributor to reduced health and quality of life in old age and has major public health consequences. These include increased direct risk of falls and fracture (hip), muscle mass loss, insulin resistance, osteoarthritis and pain, and longer rehabilitation following injury or surgery.
