Yanming Wang

Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering



Yanming received his BSc and MSc degrees in Biotechnology from ECNU China and LTH Sweden respectively. From 2010 to 2015, Yanming was a research scientist at VTT Ltd in Finland, and he started to pursue a doctoral degree from Aalto University School of Chemical Engineering in 2011. Yanming moved to Nottingham for a PDRA position at the Synthetic Biology Research Centre in 2016. Since 2019, Yanming is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering.

Expertise Summary

Yanming is a member of the Sustainable Process Technology Group. Yanming's current research is focused on reactor design and bioprocess control in the context of industrial biotechnology. He is particularly interested in incorporating emerging sensor technologies and innovative control loops to biochemical processes, to improve the process stability. He is also interested in combining chemical and biological processes to address the challenges of process feasibility and sustainability. Yanming has extensive experience in the area of chemical production from renewable resources via microbial fermentation.
