Writing Retreat for Research-only Staff
Mid-winter and mid-summer retreats
Finding it difficult to set aside time to complete a grant or fellowship application or perhaps a research publication that’s been sat on your desk for most of the year?
This 3 day non-residential writing retreat for research staff is the perfect opportunity to escape your office, lab and other distractions to focus 100% on completing that writing task. The retreat will take place on 3 consecutive days on University Park. There will be dedicated space for you to find peace and quiet to focus on your writing topic.
The main purpose of this retreat is to provide a low distraction environment for you to write. However, 3 days of full writing would be tough for even the most motivated. Hence there will be additional space for active procrastination. This will include the opportunity to speak with individuals from across the University who may be able to assist you with an aspect of your writing project. In addition, there will be optional ‘quick bite’ workshops on a variety of topics including writing techniques, referencing software, impact and polishing a research proposal.
The retreat is open to research-only staff (job families R&T 4A-R, R&T 4-R, R&T 4T-R, R&T 5R and R&T 6R) and early career academics within 2 years of their first academic post. Attendees must be employed at the University of Nottingham UK campuses only.
Places will be allocated on a first come basis. A £30 contribution to catering and resources is required to secure a place.
