Passionate about your sport? Sport in Schools is a programme offering a series of introductory sessions in one sport to local schoolchildren in Nottingham. The sessions are tailored by the leaders delivering them, so you can implement your own ideas into the programme.

The programme offers University of Nottingham students an ideal opportunity to develop transferable leadership skills and gain real work experience in the education and sporting sector.

The Role

The Role

done

Volunteers will typically deliver a minimum of 6 weekly sessions in a Nottingham primary or secondary school

done

Some sports may deliver a one-off day of activity

done

Introduce the basics of your sport to the children using fun drills and games, which we'll support you to design.

All volunteers receive extensive training, support from our Sports Volunteering Officer throughout the programme and a Leadership Academy T-shirt

Your commitment

Volunteers are asked to commit 2 hours per week, for a minimum of 6 weeks or for a full-day session.

Choose from different times during the week (Monday - Friday) to fit your timetable.

Training sessions run at the beginning of the academic year and begin in Term 2 for all volunteers.

Take a sports-related coaching qualification through our Qualification Fund.

Leaders on the Sport in Schools programme will need to be confident in their chosen sport to be able to deliver quality sessions for the schoolchildren. 

Yes, leaders on the Sport in School programme are recruited through our sports club programme and deliver their sport as a club team. Please contact your club committee to find out how you can get involved.

All sessions are based in primary and secondary schools around the Nottingham area. All travel expenses are covered for volunteers, along with any other costs you may incur. 

Yes, all volunteers will be required to complete a DBS check. Our team will help you with this process.
