Staff alumni associate membership FAQs

What does UoN sport and fitness membership include?

UoN sports and fitness memberships offer excellent value for money here at the University of Nottingham.

As well as the £40 million David Ross Sports Village, staff, alumni and associate membership also includes access to our sports centres on Jubilee and Sutton Bonington Campus (and Kings Meadow Fitness Suite for staff only).

Benefits include:

When can I purchase my UoN sports and fitness membership?

You can purchase a UoN sports and fitness membership at any time. There are various options available for more details please check our membership pages.

You can also add up to 3 direct relatives on to your membership at any time you shall need to be present and this needs to be completed at a sports centre of your choice.

How can I purchase my UoN sports and fitness membership?

 UoN sports and fitness membership may be purchased via the following methods:

  • Online

  • By visiting the David Ross Sports Village, Jubilee Sports Centre or Sutton Bonington Sports Centre receptions

 
Is there a joining fee to become a UoN sports and fitness member?
No, there is no joining fee for any of our membership packages. 
 

I work at the University, but I am not on the payroll. Is it possible for me to sign up for a membership?

Yes, if you are a Unitemps worker, contractor or a casual team member you may join on a staff UoN sports and fitness membership. Please contact our Memberships Officer for more information.

 

As a sports and fitness member, can I sign in guests?

Yes, paying sports and fitness members may sign in up to three guests at any one time. Each guest will be charged £6.50 per visit. 

 

As a sports and fitness member, can I link friends and family members to my membership?

Staff, alumni and associate sports and fitness members may add up to three friends and family members to their membership at any one time. These friends and family members will pay the same annual / monthly membership fee as the staff member. 

Enrolment must be completed at any of our sports centres - the current sports and fitness member must be present.

 
Can I bring my children with me to the sports facilities?

Yes, children of our staff sports and fitness members are welcome at all our facilities.

When accompanied by the member, under 16s may use the facility on a £2.50 pay-per-play basis. Please note, children go free-of-charge during University holidays.

 

How do I book /cancel a class or court booking?

You can book, cancel or amend bookings online, by telephoning +44 (0)115 74 87000 or by visiting any sports centre reception. 

 
I have tried to book a class, but it says I have a restriction. What does this mean?

Members who fail to cancel their activity more than 2 hours in advance, or who do not attend their activity without cancelling, will have to pay a £6.50 charge or a 14-day booking ban will be applied to their account.  

You will be unable to book any activities until this charge has been paid, or until the 14-day period has passed. Members can pay outstanding charges on their online account by clicking on the ‘bills and payment’ option, or by calling 0115 74 87000.

 

When can I use the David Ross Sports Village swimming pool?

Access to the David Ross Sports Village swimming pool is included in your sports and fitness membership. Please check our opening times for pool availability and swimming times for general members.

 
Where can I park when visiting the sports facilities?
Parking is available at all our sports facilities. Staff and Associates with staff parking permits may park free-of-charge at all times. If you don't hold a current parking permit, please click here for details of parking charges. 
 
I'd like to book the 3G pitch - does everyone playing also need to have a membership?
Members may book the 3G pitch at a discounted rate - please see our member activities page for more details and how to book.
 
How can I connect my phone to the fitness suite equipment? 
All our fitness suites use the Life Fitness LFconnect app to enable you to track your work out and access personalised programmes. For more information and to download, click here
 

I have a disability or long-term medical condition; what additional support can I access? 

Members of staff who have a disability or long-term medical condition may be entitled to a 50% reduction in membership fees, please contact the Disability Sport Officer for more information. 

 

As a staff member, associate or alumni, can I use the sports and fitness facilities without a membership?

There are opportunities for staff, associate and alumni non-members to Pay as You Go.

The Engage programme is also available to staff non-members, which offers pay as you play sessions at selected times. 

 

How can I cancel my sports and fitness membership?

Staff, alumni and associate members may request to cancel their sports and fitness membership by giving one full calendar months’ notice via our online form.
