Louise Ramsdale appointed as UoN Canoe Slalom Performance Coach as part of British Canoeing partnership

Following the announcement that the England Canoe Slalom Talent Programme has partnered with the University of Nottingham  last month, the tendering process has now concluded with two coaches contracted to the roles.

After a competitive process, Louise Ramsdale will become the Canoe Slalom Performance Coach at the University of Nottingham and Anton Lippek will become the Canoe Slalom Performance Coach at Nottingham Trent University.

Both Louise and Anton bring with them a wealth of personal experience as athletes competing on the world stage as well as a breadth and depth of coaching expertise.

Currently Louise works within the England Pathway as a Regional Pathway Coach equipping  athletes to progress to the Junior GB team and helping them to progress through the performance pathway.

Anton has a background in running multi-day kayak schools and adventure holidays in a number of locations around the world as well as supporting athletes in their development in Canoe Slalom and delivering international performances.

Keir Worth, director of paddlesports at British Canoeing, said: “We are delighted to contract Louise and Anton to these roles and believe they will both be huge assets to each University.

“The provision now available to support student athletes in Nottingham, as they strive for sporting and academic excellence, is very strong. We are delighted that both the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University have agreed to support these appointments and we look forward to our partnership growing in the years to come.”

The University Canoe Slalom Performance Coach partnership will develop and support  talented student-athletes, in their dual career, with a goal of helping them to achieve their performance potential at British University College Sport (BUCS) events and GB U23 Selection events.

Nottingham has a rich heritage of canoeing with alumni from both Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham competing at and medalling at major international events, including three-time Olympic silver medallist David Florence, London 2012 gold medallists Tim Baillie and Etienne Stott, Athens bronze medallist Helen Reeves and Tokyo 2020 Olympian Adam Burgess.
