Tin-Tin Ho wins prestigious TASS Athlete of the Year Award

Congratulations to University of Nottingham Table Tennis star Tin-Tin Ho on winning the 2022 TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) Athlete of the Year award! After being nominated amongst three other notable UK university athletes, Tin-Tin was announced as the winner of the award on 4 August. The award is awarded to a TASS athlete in recognition of their outstanding achievement this year in their sport and/or study.

The University of Nottingham Sport scholar is currently competing for Team England at the 2022 Commonwealth Games but received the award virtually at the 2022 TASS Stars Awards. On receiving the award Tin-Tin said "thank you very much for this award. It's very encouraging and motivates me to continue studying and training hard.

The TASS Stars Awards recognise and identify the nation’s most inspirational stories and aspirational athletes who successfully combine their top-class talent with their academic studies on their dual career pathway. Tin-Tin is a dedicated Medicine student at the University of Nottingham, as well as a highly successful athlete. After representing Team GB at the Tokyo Olympics last summer Tin-Tin went on to win championship gold at BUCS Big Wednesday with her University of Nottingham team mates, and has continued to perform at a very high level on the table whilst also achieving academically.

Tin-Tin recently spoke to us about balancing her studies with her sport in the lead up to her competing at this summers games. Speaking on combining both comittments, Tin-Tin said "I’ve had a lot of help from the university, both on the sporting side and from the School of Medicine. The academic faculty have helped me manage my time with meetings about what I can achieve with my studies and building that around tournaments and training which has been really helpful and my personal tutor has also been really good."

Whilst Tin-Tin has been supported, the amount of hard work and dedication that she puts into both areas cannot be understated. We are very pleased that her well deserved TASS Athlete of the Year Award 2022 provides great recognition of this work. We would once again like to congratulate Tin-Tin on her award as well as wish her continued good luck in her quest for another Commonwealth Games medal.

TASS is a Sport England funded partnership between talented athletes, delivery sites and national governing bodies of sport. They aim to bring the best out of our country’s most exciting young talents.
