University of Nottingham achievements showcased at the 2022 ukactive Awards

The University of Nottingham were shortlisted for a couple of awards at the 2022 ukactive Awards Dinner, hosted at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham on Thursday 30 June.

The department are delighted to have been shortlisted for two awards, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff team.

The #GreenandGold were named as finalists in the Diversity and Inclusion and Physical Activity Excellence award categories, recognising our sector-leading work in supporting our community to stay active as well as our innovative approach to encouraging more staff and students to join our programmes.

The Diversity and Inclusion award has been designed to recognise any organisation with a programme, project or initiative that embodies the very best of an inclusive and diverse mindset and is able to demonstrate how they utilise this mindset to welcome, celebrate and support their customers/colleagues.

The University of Nottingham Sport are delighted to be shortlisted in this category, especially due to the work of the department to champion an environment where members can feel safe, happy and ultimately be themselves, whilst being active.

The Physical Activity Excellence award aims to highlight outstanding institutions who are striving towards excellence in recognising and supporting health and wellbeing. It is about creating a sector standard for higher education institutions to achieve, and demonstrates good practice for increasing physical activity engagement across a student and staff population.

Being shortlisted for this award is a testament to the delivery teams within the University of Nottingham Sport. With a range of bespoke programmes supporting staff, students and members, the University of Nottingham Sport are able to increase physical activity levels across our memberships.

On the evening of the 30 June, we were thrilled to win the Physical Activity Excellence Award recognising our leading programme of fitness opportunities and our continued commitment to the highest standard of health and wellbeing provision for the whole campus community. We are hugely proud of this achievement and look forward to continuing to strive to engage all students on our campuses with positive opportunities and experiences.

The event celebrated the achievements of fitness and leisure operators of all sizes; local councils; prominent suppliers; leading universities; sports bodies; and charities - all of whom have excelled in their respective sporting endeavors to go above and beyond to progress the sports provision of their institution of sport.
