University of Nottingham Sport will be extending their offer during Ramadan to accommodate for members who will be fasting over the next month. We will be offering extended opening times, 1-1 fitness programmes and guidance.
We have arranged for Jubilee Fitness Suite to be open for an additional 2 hours (10.30pm to 12.30am) on the following days:
Wednesday 15th May
Friday 17th May
Monday 20th May
Wednesday 22nd May
Friday 24th May
Wednesday 29th May
Friday 31st May
On these days, there will be access to changing rooms and the fitness suite where two members of the fitness team will be on duty.
One of our instructors will be offering his expertise to members following Ramadan via 1-1 gym appointments if / when requested. To request a 1-1, talk to a member of the fitness team staff on duty.
This offer is available to members only and is not available for pay as you go guests. The extended opening times is available to all members and not just those observing Ramadan, therefore we will ask all members attending if they are following Ramadan to gauge demand and success.
If you are currently observing a fast please be aware that:
- Morning exercise – Exercising shortly after consuming a large breakfast may result in stomach pain, cramps and vomiting
- Evening exercise – you may tire and dehydrate more quickly whilst exercising, which may lead to dizziness.
- It may be worth considering what time of day you will get the most out of exercise, rather than simply sticking to your normal routine.
- If you start to feel dizzy or unwell in any way during exercise, please don’t hesitate to contact a member of the UoN Sport Team.
For tips on how to train during Ramadan please see our How to Keep Fit in the Month of Ramadan blog.
If you have any questions surrounding the offer during the month of Ramadan please ask a member of our fitness team.
