Attendance confirmation

As a new full-time student, you need to register online, meet any other offer conditions and have your attendance confirmed at the start of your course.

You must complete registration within three weeks of your course start date. The process for confirming your attendance depends on your course start date and your nationality.

Information on this page should be read in conjunction with information for late arrivals (non-British and non-Irish students only).

Standard starters

You are a standard starter if your course start date is 20 September to 1 October 2021 inclusive

The registration deadline for courses starting on 20 September and 1 October 2021 has now passed. British and Irish nationals with questions about their registration should contact Students with non-British/non-Irish nationality should contact

Non-standard starters

You are a non-standard starter if your course start date is not 20 September to 1 October 2021, inclusive.

British and Irish students

After you have completed online registration, your attendance will be confirmed from your engagement with your course. You are not required to do anything further.

If you have any further queries regarding your registration, please contact us at Student Services.

If you have EU settlement scheme permission

We will always try to obtain evidence of your EUSS permission as part of admissions process so that you don’t need to provide this for the right to study check at the point of registration. As part of the admissions process, you may be asked for a sharecode, which the University will use to verify your immigration status (also referred to as your ‘settled’ or ‘pre-settled’ status) and also to complete attendance confirmation on your behalf.

If you have not already provided the University with a sharecode or you are not sure if you have done this, please complete this short online form to provide this information. Providing the sharecode via the online form will allow us to complete your right to study check and your attendance confirmation

All other students with non-British/non-Irish nationality

After you have completed online registration you must confirm that you are in attendance at the University within three weeks of your course start date.

Book an appointment to confirm your attendance in person.

Your appointment should be booked to take place no more than 3 working days before your course start date. It should also take place after any quarantine period, and by your registration deadline.

I am not starting my course on campus.  How do I complete my 'in-person' attendance conformation?

If you are starting a new course at the University of Nottingham but your studies commence from a location which is not a University of Nottingham campus but is formally agreed as integral to your course of study, you will need to complete your ‘in person’ registration virtually by filling out the form below.

This includes students who are out on placement as part of the MArch (RIBA) programme, students who are based at the University of Lincoln and students on collaborative partnerships requiring studies to be commenced at a partner location, most often outside the UK.

You will need to complete this form before the latest registration date. The registration deadline for degree level courses is 3 weeks after your course start date.

Registration – what to bring with you

When confirming your attendance in-person please make sure to bring the following with you:

  • Your Nottingham ID number
  • Your passport
  • If you are not British or Irish you will also need to present your immigration permission (entry clearance vignette and Biometric Residence Permit, for example), to demonstrate your right to study in the UK.  You will need the original documents.

If you have questions or feel that you do not have one of the above documents, you should still attend your confirmation appointment and staff will advise you how to proceed.
