Registering to vote in a General Election

A General Election will be held on Thursday 12 December.  It's important that you have your say on the future.

You can register to vote now. If you’ve already completed online registration you can click the link to the right-hand side of this page. You’ll need your UK National Insurance number.

The deadline for completing Voter registration is midnight on 26 November 2019.


What you need to know

You are able to vote in a General Election if you are a British, Irish or qualifying Commonwealth citizen resident in the UK, aged 18 or over and registered to vote. While you may only vote once, you can be on the Electoral Registers for both your home and term-time addresses, please ensure your details are up to date on both, or you can request a postal ballot.
