Peer mentoring
Get advice from students that have been where you are now
Our peer mentoring scheme in the School of Chemistry brings together students from different year groups to support each other during important stages of their degree.
The School of Chemistry Peer Mentoring programme aims to assist new undergraduate students in making a smooth step into university study. Peer mentors (students in years 2-4) support year one students (mentees) as they progress through the first year of the course. They offer advice to new undergraduate students about good study habits and how to make the most of university resources, as well as signposting their mentees to specialist support services, if needed.
Benefits of being a mentee:
- Gain practical advice, encouragement and support
- Learn from the experiences of others
- Meet new people and make new friends
- Increase your social and academic confidence
- Become more empowered to make decisions
- Develop your communication and study skills
- Gain valuable insight into the next stage of your university career
