Active April Steps Challenge

We are encouraging everyone to keep moving over the holidays and get out in the fresh air (and hopefully sunshine!), to benefit physical and mental health. Regular activity has so many health benefits and it also gives us a break from study and work.

To help you stay active, we have collaborated with UoN Sports to host a Moves steps challenge for the month of April. We invite you to take 240,000 steps across the month (averages 8,000 steps a day).

All staff and students are welcome to take part. Everyone who completes the challenge will be entered into a prize draw for a student to win a £100 Amazon voucher (or Polaroid camera option), and a staff member to win £60 Amazon voucher.

To take part, all you need to do is:

1. Register with the free Moves app

2. Link your tracking device to the Moves app

3. Join the Active April Steps Challenge on 1st April (in the Moves app)

For details on how to set up Moves, visit the UoN Moves App page.

UoN Nature Bioblitz

Spend time exploring our beautiful University Park campus and recording the nature you see. From plants to bugs, birds and bunnies. This will help us make better decisions on how to enhance and protect the wildlife that calls our university home.

Come join our bioblitz event! After 30 minutes training, you’ll go out onto campus and record all the nature you can spot. You will need a phone and the app iNaturalist. A free lunch is included!

If you can’t make the event, people are welcome to record wildlife on University Park or Jubilee campus themselves between 25-28 April and still contribute to the challenge.

For more information, visit Wilding campuses project.
