You're just about ready to join us Nottingham. Before setting out, make sure you have everything you need for a smooth journey.
Before travelling to study with us, you must ensure you will be able to enter the UK. If you will study on a Tier 4 student visa, this will mean applying for and obtaining your visa before travelling.
You should also get any relevant travel vaccinations – for more information, see our guide on using health services in the UK.
Arrange to have enough money (in cash or travellers cheques) to cover your living expenses for the first week or two. Remember that you will probably be unable to open a UK bank account until you have completed University registration.
If you will be unable to arrive in time for the start date of your course, see our guidance on late arrival for some important information. You must not travel to the UK if you will be unable to arrive before the final registration deadline.
When you pack for your journey to the UK, think about what you will most need or want to have with you. Make sure you don't pack more than you can carry!
You don't need to bring bedding and kitchenware from home as you can easily buy these in Nottingham. If you will stay in campus accommodation, you may be able to purchase bedding packs through the University's online store.
Bring some warm and waterproof clothing for your journey to the UK. It's a good idea to check an online weather forecast before you travel to find out what kind of temperatures and weather to expect on arrival.
But don't spend a fortune on bulky winter clothing before travelling – you can find plenty of affordable warm clothing for sale in the UK.
If you want to bring any food, alcohol or restricted items, check the UK government's customs information. You cannot bring meat and dairy products from outside the EU.
When leaving your home country to travel to the UK, you should pack these items in your hand baggage:
