Green Flag awards for University of Nottingham

The University of Nottingham has achieved Green Flag status for the 18th year in a row. This international award by Keep Britain Tidy recognises well-managed parks and outside spaces and sets the standard for their management. The Estates Grounds Maintenance Team do a fantastic job of caring for our green havens and this year they have been more needed than ever for our health and wellbeing.

Green Gown Awards nomination for Vet School

Hopper bus timetable changes for Jubilee and Sutton Bonington

Student-run veterinary clinic Vets in the Community has been shortlisted for a Green Gown Award. The awards recognise exceptional sustainability initiatives by universities.
The Jubilee hopper bus route has been changed to include the city centre. The Sutton Bonington service will now include the Nottingham Trent University Clifton stop.

Double Dr bike sessions in November

Brighten Up competition winner

This month there are more Dr Bike sessions available across several campuses. The expert mechanic will give your bike a thorough check and make any minor repairs. Social distancing measures are in place and you must book your slot.
As the clocks changed in October we ran our annual Brighten Up campaign to encourage safe cycling in the darker months. Well done to David Cohen who won a ultra high-vis jacket in our competition. Be safe and be seen this winter.

Get involved with Student Switch Off

A new job at a strange time

Do you live in halls? Get involved in Student Switch Off and help your hall win whilst doing easy things to take action on the climate crisis. Become a virtual champion and represent your hall, help raise awareness, and drive change across campus.
Who's the newest member of our sustainability team? Alison Clayton joined the University in September and in her first blog, she offers a few thoughts on starting a new job remotely and how to stay sustainable during a pandemic.

Litter pick challenge to help hedgehogs on campus

Litter poses a hazard to hedgehogs and other wildlife. Hedgehog Friendly Campus is holding a UK-wide competition to find out which university can collect the most litter on campus. The university that collects the most litter wins a hedgehog house for their campus. Take part from 2 Nov - 18 Dec.
