How to accept your offer
If we've made you an offer through Clearing, congratulations!
Read on to find out how to confirm your place on our course through the UCAS Clearing process. For guidance on applying via Adjustment, see below
How do I accept a Clearing offer?
Check the email you received from us confirming your offer
This email includes your personal details and the academic and English qualifications we have based your Clearing offer on. It will also include the course we have offered you and the deadline for accepting our offer. If any of these details are incorrect, please reply directly to the email to notify us as soon as possible.
Accepting our offer forms a contract between the University and you. It's important that you understand our requirements and obligations before accepting your offer.
Make sure that UCAS Track shows that you are in Clearing
You may already be in Clearing when you contacted us, or you may have other offers that you need to decline or be released from. Applicants who haven't made a UCAS application will need to create one now. Find out more below.
Add the University of Nottingham (N84) as a choice on UCAS Track
You must do this before the deadline given in your offer confirmation email. If you find you are unable to refer yourself in UCAS Track, please check our guidance below.
Once we process your referral, your status will be updated in UCAS Track
We will usually complete this within two working days. We may need to contact you by email if we require any more information from you.
Once your offer and acceptance are processed within UCAS, you'll be able to make other preparations for your studies in Nottingham. We will also send you a formal student contract by email, typically within two days of your offer being confirmed on UCAS Track.
Your next steps
Making sure you're in Clearing
You are responsible for ensuring you have the correct application status to enable you to add a Clearing choice before the deadline given in our offer confirmation email.
If you are already in Clearing, your application status will be displayed in UCAS Track as 'you are in Clearing' or 'Clearing has started'.
If you are holding an unconditional firm (UF) place with another institution and wish to enter Clearing so that you can accept a Clearing offer at Nottingham, you have two options. You can either ask your firm choice university to release you into Clearing, or you can release yourself by selecting 'decline my place' in UCAS Track.
New UCAS applicants
If you have not already made a 2020 UCAS application, you can still create a new UCAS application to accept a Clearing offer from us. You will enter directly into UCAS Clearing and you can then add us as a choice in UCAS Track.
If you are unable to submit a UCAS application, you may still be able to accept an offer from us via the Record of Prior Acceptance (RPA) process.
Adding the University as a Clearing choice
If you are unable to add us as a Clearing choice in UCAS Track, please ensure that you have selected the correct institution (N84 – University of Nottingham) and the correct UCAS course code.
If you are unable to find the course we have offered you, it may be that this course has closed for new enquiries since you received your offer. You can still accept our offer (up to the deadline we have given you) but will need to add your choice in a slightly different way:
- In the Institution box, select N84
- In the Course box, select Other
- In the next box type in the relevant course code in capitals, eg R120 and not r120
- You may need to work through further tick boxes; for example, point of entry
There will be limited functionality on UCAS Track on certain dates, including Monday 27 July to Tuesday 4 August and Friday 7 August to Thursday 13 August. You will not be able to add any Clearing choices during these periods.
If you are still unable to add the University of Nottingham as a Clearing choice, please reply to our offer confirmation email so that we can advise you further.
Adjustment is the process for applicants with an unconditional offer in UCAS who want to apply for another course or university. It is available from A level results day on 13 August until 31 August 2020.
Your Adjustment period starts when your conditional firm (CF) choice changes to unconditional firm (UF), or on 13 August, whichever is later. UCAS Track will show how much time is left of your Adjustment period.
To enter Adjustment, select 'register for Adjustment' on the 'choices' screen in UCAS Track. This is only available for applicants who have met and exceeded the conditions of their firm offer.
Accepting your Adjustment offer
To confirm you wish to accept an Adjustment offer we have made to you, please reply to the confirmation email you have received from us and include 'Adjustment Place' in the subject line of your email. The email must contain your full name, confirmation that you have met and exceeded the conditions of your firm offer, and confirmation that you want to accept the University of Nottingham's offer of a place through Adjustment.
You must email us at least 24 hours before the end of your Adjustment period. We will not accept you through Adjustment until we have received your confirmation email. If you don't include 'Adjustment Place' in the subject line, this may result in delays with the processing of your application.
If you accept a place at the University of Nottingham through Adjustment you will have declined your original firm choice and will be unable to change back to this offer. Please think carefully about this decision before applying for and accepting an offer through Adjustment.
