1.1 A shared understanding All representations (including graphical ones) rely on shared understandings of symbols and styles to convey meaning. Like maps, graphical representations stress some features and ignore others. As you work through this course, bear in mind that graphs are selective representations of information. When you come across different graphs ask yourself what is being stressed and what is being ignored. In the newspapers, you are likely to find graphs used to present all sorts of information:

Function Machine (Input, Output) - A Virtual Manipulative
This virtual manipulative is designed to teach the concept of a function by allowing you to experiment with various functions.
Observe the output of a function by dragging numbers from the top left corner to the IN chute of the function machine. The function machine will process the number and produce an output value.
-Make a guess what function the machine is using by observing the output.
-Use your guess to decide what the remaining entries of the table shoul

6.1 Introduction As a student, you're likely to engage in a variety of writing tasks. You'll almost certainly handle significant amounts of text and, depending on your course, perhaps also numbers or diagrams. This section looks at the different way that you write using a computer, and also provides some referencing advice.
3.4 How does the EU operate? The EU operates through institutions created in the treaties. These institutions can have decision-making powers, law-making powers or may act as part of a checking and consultation procedure. The European Commission (represents the interests of the EU).
3 Group axioms Section 3 is an audio section. We begin by defining the terms group, Abelian group and order of a group. We then demonstrate how to check the group axioms, and we extend the examples of groups that we use to include groups of numbers – the modular arithmetics, the integers and the real numbers.
