5.5.4 Evaluate the effectiveness of your strategy

Using the records in your Skills File, look back over your IT development work and think about how your decisions, and the facilities and constraints of your working environment influenced the way you tackled the task. How effective was your strategy in improving your IT skills? Identify what was and was not helpful in achieving your goals and outcomes, and assess how your own IT strengths and weaknesses contributed to this.

Evaluate your achievements against the criteria you establishe

Development of Computer Systems for Use in Architectural Education
Computers have not been used in education in a way that fosters intellectual development of alternate approaches to design. Sufficient theory exists to use computing devices to support other potentially fruitful approaches to design. A proposal is made for the development of a computer system for architectural education which is built upon a particular model for design, that of rational decision making. Within the framework provided by the model, a series of courseware development projects are p

3.4 Audio activity

Using audio is a very idiosyncratic practice amongst Open University students. Some listen to them in the car, others on a personal stereo on the train, some while washing up, others at their desk. Flexibility of use is certainly one of their virtues. However you use them, some of the following may be useful guidelines.

  • Read the notes for the activity before you listen. At the very least try and fix in your head or note down the main purpose of the a

5.1.2 When are bar charts used?

A bar chart is a good method of representation if you want to illustrate a set of data in a way that is as easy to understand as it is simple to read. In general, a bar chart should be used for data that can be counted so, for example, we could use a bar chart to show the number of families with 0, 1, 2 or more children. A bar chart could also be used to show how many people in one area use each of the different modes of transport to get to work.

Bar charts are very useful for comparing

1.3.2 Recurrent themes

When the accounts of people who have described a near-death experience are looked at side by side it is possible to identify some common features. This isn’t to say that all of these features are present in every account, but that amidst variations there are certainly recurrent themes. The following list is compiled from a variety of studies, including the important study undertaken by Sabom (1982), himself initially sceptical.

As a result of strict standards set by the EU Directive on the Quality of Drinking Water, it is now often necessary for drinking water to have further treatment to remove components such as nitrates and trace of organics.

2.1 England

England played a dominant role in the medieval history of Britain, and the history of the UK is undoubtedly the history of the political and cultural power of England in comparison to Scotland, Wales and Ireland. In the making of the UK, each component nation played a different role: the English and Scottish kingdoms, the incorporation of Wales into the English Crown, and the subjugation of Ireland. The making of the UK was complex and fraught with violent confrontations, particularly virule

3.3.2 Water pollution from coal mines

Most underground and some surface mines lie well below the water table. Both therefore have the potential to pollute any groundwater that flows through them. The root cause of the problem is the action of aerobic bacteria on pyrite (FeS2) within the coal sequence. This process releases metal and sulphate ions into solution, which in turn causes the acidity of the mine water to increase:

Los Aztecas - La Noche Triste (en español)
Al ver regresar a Cortés los mexicas decidieron dejarlo pasar a la ciudad porque pensaron que iba a ser más fácil derrotarlo con los demás españoles dentro de la ciudad que enfrentarse a él fuera de la ciudad. Entonces Cortés se pudo reunir con los españoles sitiados y después de unos días de batallas infructuosas decidió que la única salida que tenían era huir de la Ciudad de México. 1:49

5.3 The acceleration due to gravity

In the absence of air resistance, an object falling freely under the influence of the Earth's gravity, close to the surface of the Earth, experiences an acceleration of about 9.81 m s−2 in the downward direction. The precise value of the magnitude is indicated by the symbol g and varies slightly from place to place due to variations in surface altitude, the effect of the Earth's rotation and variations in the internal composition of the Earth. Some typical values for

Season 2 – Lesson 37 – Coffee Break Spanish
Coming up in this lesson:

In this episode María-José tells Andrew about her visits to the Canary Islands. She uses lots of examples of the imperfect tense to describe what she used to do when she went there several times when she was younger. Things have been extremely hectic over the past few weeks at Radio Lingua and we’re trying to catch up with our publication schedule!

Rollback

Rollback takes on both liberal and conservative conventions and their habits of mind. The objective of the work is dramatically ambitious. Woods writes with relentless precision, like an intellectual surgeon, to convince the reader that the government is not what it says (the source of security, prosperity, peace, justice, health) it is but is rather the opposite and thereby we can and should do without it precisely in the name of promoting security, prosperity, peace justice, and health.
