The American Revolution
This is an 11-minute video that explains both the geographical and political causes of the Revolution. This would be a good video to start a study of the war and includes primary document quotes. Best used with a map of the colonies so students could follow the evidence better.
Map Lesson for Primary Grades
This is a great slide show for students to learn about maps and the different kinds of maps (political, relief). The words are large and can easily be seen if using a projector in a classroom. (Only pictures, no narration or music)
Relative Size of Objects on Maps
Students are taught how to scale and draw simple maps. Maps include bedroom, house, and neighborhood. Teacher shows students how to find their neighborhood in GoogleMaps. Teacher does not have students label the maps.
Learning about Maps with Curious George
The children head to a museum to learn more about maps. Each team makes a map and then gives it to another team to try to follow. The children label landmarks throughout the museum to give the teams clues to follow.
About Spelling Rules
A teacher shows how to improve spelling skills by learning spelling rules, but remember that many rules have exceptions. Basic spelling rules include putting "I" before "E" except after "C," doubling the final consonant in words where the last syllable is stressed and proceeded by a single vowel, and dropping the final "E" when adding a suffix to a word.

EarthDay Videos: A Variety of Issues
This collection offers an excellent one on the history of Thoreau as well as vidoes on global warming, authors, getting active, EarthDay, and more. All of them are excellent in quality, but some are long and all of them need ancillary materials to make the messages more useful. Maps, a word wall and other aids are recommended. Walden was the best one I found for older students. All videos together are 1 hour run time.
