Korean media has reported the first public appearance by its leader in six weeks.
Aided by a walking stick, Kim Jong un attended a newly built residential district in Pyongyang this week, the state-run Korean Central News Agency says.
The announcement follows speculation over whether Kim’s absence from public commemorations was due to ‘discomfort’, as reported by North Korean officials, or if something more sinister was at play, like a coup.

Agnese Nelms Haury dedicated her life to the preservation and understanding of cultures, ecosystems and landscapes. Her generous bequest of more than $50 million dollars to the University of Arizona Foundation will create the UA Agnese Nelms Haury Program in Environment And Social Justice to fund prestigious faculty chairs, visiting fellowships, student scholarships, conferences and collaborative research.
