Banks, Bailouts and Irish Literature, Spring 2013
This interdisciplinary course explores the relationship between Irish literature and economics from the 18th century to the boom times of the Celtic Tiger and the fallout from the recent banking crisis. The course will situate contemporary Irish literature and culture in relation to earlier periods, but also in the context of the Irish government’s bailout of the banks and the subsequent European Union-IMF “bailout” of the sovereign state of Ireland.
Integrated Design for Product Success
Excellence in product design is at the heart of success, yet more products fail than succeed. Integrating a balance of design, engineering, and business is critical, but challenging. Getting it right in the midst of uncertainty can be messy, complex, and daunting.
In this webinar, Matthew S. Kressy, director of MIT's newly established Integrated Design & Management master's degree track, will discuss why product designs can succeed or fail. He will provide a high-level overview of strengths

18.2.2 Compatibility An innovation that is compatible with the experiences, values and needs of its potential buyers will be adopted more rapidly than one that isn't compatible. For example mobile phones have spread rapidly because they are compatible with social and cultural trends towards faster communications, increased personal mobility and the desirability of high-tech gadgets. However the car seat belt, patented in 1903, wasn't adopted on any significant scale until the 1970s (Author(s):
9.2 Dynamic range The quietest sound we can hear corresponds to a pressure wave with an amplitude of about 10 μPa, which is a very small pressure amplitude indeed. It is about 0.000 000 01 per cent of nominal atmospheric pressure, and the resultant displacement of the eardrum is less than a tenth of the diameter of a hydrogen molecule. At the upper end of the scale, a sound that is distressingly loud might typically correspond to a pressure wave with an amplitude of 0.01 per cent of nominal atmospheric

They, too, are things we can look at and touch after all. The difference is very much one of interpretation. Are the Parthenon statues art or archaeology; is an ancient painted pot art or archaeology? In order to avoid such questions, many people use the term ‘material culture’ to cover both. For many purposes, the difference doesn't matter. In fact, it is a good illustration of the advantages of interdisciplinary work, with different kinds of app 16th Annual Lions Oratory Competition 2010 Keep on learning There are more than 800 courses on OpenLearn for you to choose from on a range of subjects.
