6 What you should present

This assessment course has two parts. Part A requires you to show what you did to plan, monitor, evaluate and reflect upon your skills, and present evidence of that process. Part B requires you to select concise examples of your work that demonstrate what you did as you applied skills and techniques to tackle problems. Together the two parts form a portfolio of your achievements. You can use the guidance, Bookmarks and Skills Sheets included in the OpenLearn course U529_1 Key skill

1.5.2 Validation and ‘so what’

It's usually not enough to find something; initial conclusions usually require a validation step, a chance to expose them to falsification or corroboration. For example, the conventional validation step for an implementation is an evaluation. The conventional validation step for a novel solution is a demonstration of concept, or a performance test.

2.4 Critical magnetic field

An important characteristic of a superconductor is that its normal resistance is restored if a sufficiently large magnetic field is applied. The nature of this transition to the normal state depends on the shape of the superconductor and the orientation of the magnetic field, and it is also different for pure elements and for alloys. In this subsection we describe the behaviour in the simplest situation; we shall discuss other more complex behaviour in Section 4.

1.6.4 Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine)

Vitamin B6 is composed of pyridoxine and two closely related compounds. It is found in small quantities in many foods, though it can be destroyed in the cooking process. No clear deficiency disease has been recognised in humans as being directly caused by lack of this vitamin, since it is often found in conjunction with other B vitamins and their absence has greater effects. Its main role is in the conversion of some amino acids into other ones, depending on the requirements of the
