Latitude, Angle of Sun and Solar Energy
Students massage (by sorts) spreadsheet data to tease out the relationships between latitude, angle of the sun, surface area of light beam and temperature. Also introduces possible confounding variable of elevation and the need to control for elevation.

Rock, Paper, Scissors - Settling Classroom Disputes
I have open discussions with students about settling simple disputes. For example, we talk about when two people arrive in line at the same time, what usually happens? Sometimes an argument will start, maybe some pushing or shoving. Then we discuss other strategies to help solve the conflict fast one way is by playing "Rock, Paper, Scissor shoot". Then I show the video clip using a LCD projector. When the clip is over I pass out a card from a deck of cards and ask the kids to find a person
How Fermentation Works
Fermentation is an energy producing process that does not require oxygen to take place. It's anaerobic in nature. Bacteria, yeast, and even human cells use fermentation to create energy in the form of ATP.
