Animal Defenses
This is a video showing how animals have different defenses. The example shown is of a hog snake "defending" itself against a curious kitten, a sea otter pursuing a crab, a porcupine fending off lions, a rhinoceros, a squid against a barracuda, and a puffer fish defending itself against an otter. "What Do You Like To Do?" Song  (Verbs)
A fun song to practice some common things that kids like to do. What do you like to do? ride a bike, dance, draw a picture, climb a tree, speak English, read a book, swim. This is a great resource to introduce and/or review verbs in the elementary classroom. (01:25)
Cómo dibujar el otoño - en español
Los detalles harán que tu dibujo represente adecuadamente el otoño. (1:03)
Letter "R" Activities with Food
Featuring the letter R. Video introduces the letter R, the R sound, and R foods. (4:25)
The Coordinate Plane
This video covers the basics of coordinates planes such as: the /y/ and /x/ axes, quadrants, origin, and ordered pairs. This is a good introduction. (03:24)
Coordinate Plane Problems
This video uses populations of the U.S. from 1910-2010 as data to be plotted on a coordinate plane. The presenter shows how make a scale for the /x/ and /y/ axes and how to plot the data on the plane. NOTE: this is a very casual lesson with a conversational tone as opposed to a professional presentation. (05:45)
Stories in the Sky
In this activity, learners create their own constellations and star patterns and write a short, descriptive story explaining the significance of their star pattern/constellation. Then, learners can view their constellations in a homemade "planetarium" and share their stories aloud. This activity is part of a collaboration between NASA and the Navajo that also included videos that can be watched online.
"What's Your Favorite Color?" Song
This video teaches a fun easy song to review colors. Each color and color word is shown on the screen. This is a great resource to introduce and/or review color words in the early childhood classroom. (01:11)
Cooking Up a Comet
In this activity (page 1-5 of PDF), learners use dry ice and a few household materials to model the chemical composition of a comet. This recipe is fun to make and is a very dramatic way to begin a unit on comets; it is one of the more scientifically accurate demonstrations in astronomy. However, this activity can be messy and exercise caution when using dry ice.
Implementing Mobile and e-learning in Health and Social Care
As part of a submission for the IMS Global Award, this film discusses the outputs of the ALPS CETL and demonstrates the impact that they have had on learning and assessment in practice settings, particularly focussing on the development of competency maps, 360degree multiprofessional asessment tools and the use of mobile technology to deliver these innovative assessment processes to the Health and Social Care students on placement.
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) in Adults Utilizing a Health System's Resources to Improve Training in Quality Improvement for Its 22 Residenc Ciencia efervescente y espumosa! Crayfish Investigations Cinq Petit Potirons
En esta actividad la tira mica muestra a los participantes como pueden hacer un experimento simple para ver cuales la_quidos son ajcidos. Los participantes mezclan materiales no taxicos para ver si hay una reaccian qua_mica. Haran una lista de todos los la_quidos que utilizan en el experimento para documentar los resultados.
This activity has learners interacting with live crayfish, but could be adapted for a variety of similar hardy and interesting organisms. Instructions are provided for facilitating free and guided observations, including how to make explicit things learners wonder and notice, and sharing them by posting them on index cards. There is extensive background about how to buy and maintain crayfish, along with general "Crayfish Information Cards" for learners.
