Mr. Khan uses computer software for demonstration. The screen is a little 'busy' so the viewer may want to open the screen to 'full screen' to see all more clearly. (10:34)
Magic Sand: Stays Dry when Wet
How can something submerged in water stay dry? When ordinary sand gets wet, the result is a clumpy mess. However, "Magic Sand" begins as normal looking sand, until it's coated with a substance that repels water. This special coating keeps the sand dry even after it has been dumped into a container of water. Build castles and other structures under the water, then simply pour the water off when you're finished and the sand is still dry. Students are going to like to watch this and learn how it is
Chemistry Of Cooking
A biochemist and cook explains that cooking is all about chemistry and knowing some facts can help chefs understand why recipes go wrong. Because cooking is essentially a series of chemical reactions, it is helpful to know some basics. This video is a must for all students to watch as it shows how science is everywhere.
The Party: The Secret World Of China's Communist Rulers [Audio]
Speaker(s): Richard McGregor | China's political and economic growth in the past three decades is one of astonishing, epochal dimensions. The country has undergone a remarkable transformation on a scale similar to the industrial revolution in the West. The most remarkable part of this transformation, however, has been largely left untold the central role of the Chinese Communist Party. As an organization alone, the Party is a phenomenon of unique scale and power. With more than seventy-three mil

6.3 Clarifying purposefulness Research conducted by Ralph Stacey (1993) shows how business managers often behave in a way contrary to espoused policies and expectations. Rather than adhering to conventions of long-term planning, and accepted orthodoxies and procedures, they actually tend to make a succession of unrelated, adaptive responses to changing situations as the need arises. This is often, and rather disparagingly, labelled muddle-through or crisis management but can result in adaptive action and organisation.

Flying On Mars
To fly around on the surface of Mars, a traditional aircraft would need to travel at speeds of over 250 MPH just to stay aloft in the very thin atmosphere. Taking off and landing on the rocky terrain for sample inspection and gathering would be nearly impossible. This video explains some of the problems that need to be overcome when dealing with travel in space. A good problem solving video and a career one.
Running time 2:32 minutes.
Polynomial Derivatives - Problem 3
This video provides an example of how to find the coordinates of the points of a graph of a polynomial function. The constant multiple rule lets the polynomial derivatives of multiples of power functions simply be multiples of their derivatives, while the sum rule allows monomial parts of the polynomial to be calculated one by one.
