Rochester Competes for National Photonics Institute
Louise Slaughter, U.S. Representative from the 25th District of New York, announced that a proposal for a federal Institute for Manufacturing Innovation devoted to photonics in Rochester was named as a finalist in the competition for $100 million in funding from the Department of Defense. She was joined by Robert Clark, Senior Vice President for Research and dean of the Hajim School of Engineering, who also spoke about the importance of this type of investment in the field of photonics.
