4.1 Family and meanings? We have considered the difficulties of pinning down family definitions and meanings. We now ask whether it is indeed important to explore and unravel these complexities. Do the varieties of family meanings – or the meaning of ‘family’ itself – matter, or do they just provide a minor intellectual diversion? You may like to pause here for a moment to consider how you would answer this question for yourself. Do you think they matter, and if so, in what ways? We consider this questi

4 Thinking about adaptation Section 3 identified a range of adaptations in insect eaters, most linked with their mode of feeding. Particular structures are identified as having particular functions. But there are problems with the concept of adaptation if it's taken too far. Not all features of an organism have to be functional in ways that perfectly su

4.2 Ionic and covalent bonding We begin by applying simple bonding theories to molecular chlorine gas (Cl2) and non-molecular sodium chloride (NaCl), whose structures were discussed in Section 1. Figure 28 shows the result. Conclusion This free course provided an introduction to studying the arts and humanities. It took you through a series of exercises designed to develop your approach to study and learning at a distance and helped to improve your confidence as an independent learner. 6.1.1 The user interface An interface to a washing machine does not need to be like the interface to a personal computer (a user interface is a display/control panel that enables the user to control a machine or interact with a program). It is specific to the task of washing laundry, which involves two things: displaying the choices that relate to washing laundry (such as type of laundry to be washed, water temperature, and spin speed); displaying some indicatio Introduction This course explores origins of the Universe by looking in detail at events immediately following the Big Bang. Starting with looking at the cooling of the very early Universe, the course then moves on to the inflation era, the quark-lepton and the hadron era. Then the course looks at how fundamental particles began to synthesise to form nuclei, and from here it discusses the development of larger structures like stars and galaxies. By examining closely the forces in play and the interactions 6.091 Hands-On Introduction to Electrical Engineering Lab Skills (MIT) 2.3.2 The content of Philip's essay Paragraph 1: Introduction – social context Ellis – a portrait of C18 women whose fathers/husbands were of landowning class. People have known about and used mirrors for much of recorded history, but it took no less a genius than Isaac Newton to realise how a curved mirror could be used to construct an optical telescope, and that this would overcome some of the most important shortcomings of refracting telescopes. As noted earlier, a concave spherical mirror will reflect parallel rays approaching along its ax Luciana Nery - Pesquisa de Marketing Student experiences of enterprise education The Death March to Volary Adventskrans maken : Stappenplan Een eenvoudig stappenplan die de leerlingen de mogelijkheid geeft om zelf hun persoonlijke adventskrans te maken. This course introduces students to both passive and active electronic components (op-amps, 555 timers, TTL digital circuits). Basic analog and digital circuits and theory of operation are covered. The labs allow the students to master the use of electronic instruments and construct and/or solder several circuits. The labs also reinforce the concepts discussed in class with a hands-on approach and allow the students to gain significant experience with electrical instruments such as function gener
