Science Bulletins: Hubble Spots Star Factories
A survey of the oldest objects in the Universe has revealed a multitude of dwarf galaxies that are producing stars at a dizzying pace. Using the infrared vision of the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, astronomers concentrated on two regions, observing 69 galaxies brimming with stars. The latest Astro Bulletin from the Museum's Science Bulletins program showcases this unexpected discovery, which may lead astronomers to reevaluate current theories about how galaxies evolve. A 12 year old female with a previous history of Buruli ulcer that healed with only daily gauze dressings has presented again with the ulcerated form of the disease. The lesion is in the right popliteal region close to the previous healed Buruli scar, and there is some limitation of movement at the right knee joint. A wound swab was obtained from the undermined edge of the ulcer for Ziehl-Nielson stain for AFB and an IS2404 PCR. Both are positive, and treatment is indicated.
