NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory recently spied a spectacular cosmic sight: a ring of eight black holes. Telescopes that view the Universe in optical, ultraviolet, and infrared light can see the galaxy where the ring resides, but only an X-ray telescope can detect the black holes lurking within.
