The Cask of Amontillado - Rap Song
A fun rap about Edgar Allen Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado." You can watch the remix video or read the original short story by Poe. Many of Poe's best stories were his simplest, and "The Cask of Amontillado" is no exception. Imagine yourself for a moment in Fortunato's shoes: about to taste your favorite rare drink, instead you are buried alive in a wall. Wow. Flocab artist Dillon Maurer gets on the mic and sticks close to the original text to bring Poe's tale dramatically to life.  Lyrics

Implications of resource management in La Parguera, Puerto Rico (The)
A recent rezoning of La Parguera, southwest Puerto Rico, as a tourist zone has resulted in an imbalance between development and appropriate resource management. Development associated with tourism is destroying the sub-tropical dry forest and adding pressure on the marine resources through increased boat traffic and marine structures. Declining water quality and benthic community health are two of the impacts seen in La Parguera associated with these land use changes. This study is three-fold. F

5 Keeping it short: jottings, abbreviations and symbols

Once you have identified the key ideas you are in a position to take some brief notes or jottings. Indeed, you will find that highlighting on its own is a rather passive process and as a result you may not remember the ideas that you identified. Rather than returning to the highlighted text every time you want to revisit or draw upon these ideas, only to find that what you have marked does not make sense to you anymore, it is useful to develop a form of short note taking. So, getting k

3 Rhythm

All speech has rhythm because we naturally stress some words or syllables more than others. The rhythm can sometimes be very regular and pronounced, as in a children's nursery rhyme – ‘JACK and JILL went UP the HILL’ – but even in the most ordinary sentence the important words are given more stress. In poetry, rhythm is extremely important: patterns are deliberately created and repeated for varying effects. The rhythmical pattern of a poem is called its metre, and we can analyse, or

Image Resizer for Windows Explorer Shell Extension

Today's Windows Wednesday project is one that's a couple years old, but is a great tool for anyone who does any image/photo resizing (say like someone writing for a Coding4Fun blog ;)

This project by Brice Lambson is a Windows Explorer shell extension that besides what is does also provides a nice example of separating the extension from the primary work. In this case, the extension is C++ and the app itself is C#.
