Interactions Everywhere!
Students are introduced to the concept of an environment and the interactions within it through written and hands-on webbing activities. They also learn about environmental engineering careers and the roles of these engineers in our society.
7.2 Selected to survive: studies of the PNS
How do we become individuals? This unit looks at how genes and the environment interact making each of us unique. Looking at the period between conception and birth you will examine the issues of nature or nurture to see which has the greatest impact.
7.1 Neuron proliferation

Hoe een kledingstuk wassen: Les instructions de lavage
Op het einde van deze les kun je aan de hand van de wasvoorschriften uitleggen hoe een kledingstuk best gewassen wordt.
Health Care Reform in the US
Spiralling health care costs are currently threatening the future of the US economy. Peter Orszag offers insight on possible approaches to reduce health care costs over time without impairing the quality of medical care or outcomes. LSE alumnus Peter Orszag (MSc, PhD Economics, 1992, 1997) is vice chairman of Global Banking at CitiGroup. He recently served as director of the Office of Management and Budget under president Barack Obama.
VUCast: First breath, first look, first day!
Having a baby is all about handling the unknowns; go inside a new reality TV series focusing on baby’s first day. Plus, get on the field with ‘Dores baseball coach Tim Corbin, and snazzy new digs are coming for Vandy students.
"Computation Structures, Spring 2009"
" 6.004 offers an introduction to the engineering of digital systems. Starting with MOS transistors, the course develops a series of building blocks — logic gates, combinational and sequential circuits, finite-state machines, computers and finally complete systems. Both hardware and software mechanisms are explored through a series of design examples. 6.004 is required material for any EECS undergraduate who wants to understand (and ultimately design) digital systems. A good grasp of the mater
LOCATE: a mouse protein subcellular localization database
We present here LOCATE, a curated, web-accessible database that houses data describing the membrane organization and subcellular localization of proteins from the FANTOM3 Isoform Protein Sequence set. Membrane organization is predicted by the high-throughput, computational pipeline MemO. The subcellular locations of selected proteins from this set were determined by a high-throughput, immunofluorescence-based assay and by manually reviewing >1700 peer-reviewed publications. LOCATE represents the
Creating a Yelp-like Resource for Autism Families
As a father to an autistic child, Topher Wurts realized autism families could use an app and website that listed resources to help them find appropriate places, services and products -- with reviews. So he created Autism Village.
Cognitive Disability and Cognitive Enhancement
Prof Jeff McMahan,Rutgers University explores why it is important for our understanding of problems in bioethics to determine the moral status of human beings whose cognitive capacities and potential are no higher than those of higher nonhuman animals.
Genetic Testing for Cancer: Is It Worth It?
Please visit: www.mdanderson.org/prevention for more information regarding prevention and screening How often you should get tested for breast cancer depends on your chances for getting the disease. If you are at increased risk for breast cancer, you may need to start screening exams at an earlier age, get additional tests or be tested more often. Learn when genetic testing makes sense for you. Dr. Banu Arun, Professor of Breast Medical Oncology and Co-Director of Clinical Cancer Genetics at The
Bobo the Baby Elephant Grows Up Read-Aloud Online Storybook
This read aloud is Bobo the Baby Elephant Grows Up written by Andis Sergejevs and illustrated by Aija Jasuna. In this story Bobo the baby elephant doesn't want to grow up. However in his adventures he learns to like being grown up. There is a back, stop, and next button on each page. Each word is highlighted as it is read. This is a good resource to help build a literacy rich environment in the elementary classroom. This would be great used i
Cycads (Cycas revoluta)
Cycads look like palms but are not among the flowering plants. Cycad seeds develop on specialized leaves. These leaves pack together to form a cone.
Permeable Pavement
In this activity, students investigate how different riparian ground covers, such as grass and pavement, affect river flooding. They learn about permeable and impermeable materials through the measurement how much water is absorbed by several different household materials in a model riverbed. Students use what they learn to make recommendations for engineers developing permeable pavement. Also, they consider several different limitations for design in the context of a small community.
Household energy audit
Students review the electrical appliances used at home and estimate the energy used for each. The results can help to show the energy hogs that could benefit from conservation or improved efficiency.
