Sensory material architectures: Concepts and methodologies for spatial tectonics and tactile respons
As the knowledge of material computation advances, continuing the seamless integration of design and fabrication, questions beyond materialization can be addressed with a focus on sensing, feedback, and engagement as critical factors of design exploration. This article will discuss a series of prototypes, design methodologies, and technologies that articulate a textile?s micro-architecture, at the scale of fibers and stitches, to instrumentalize simultaneous structural, spatial, and sensory-resp
5.2 Cryogenic liquids and ionising radiation safety There are a number of hazards associated with cryogenic liquids, the main one being that when accidentally released the liquid expands hugely to form a gas (600 times in the case of nitrogen). The formation of such a large volume of gas can lead to asphyxiation in confined areas. The other main hazard is cold burns (frostbite). 1.2.7 In praise of cheap offshore labour? Claims over the benefits of globalisation and the exploitation of cheap offshore labour generate strong feelings and, not surprisingly, divide opinion between those who favour the global marketplace and its detractors. The issue turns on whether the constant search for ever-cheaper manufacturing and service locations is seen as a good or a bad thing. It may appear odd, at first, to suggest that exploiting the poor of another country can, on any measure, be regarded as a good thing, but 3.1 The expansion of the right to confidence While there is no common law right to privacy, the law relating to breach of confidence has been expanded to a degree which suggests that privacy claims are now being given greater protection. The right to confidence has been expanded in recent cases such as Douglas and Others v Hello! Ltd (2001). In this case the Court of Appeal ruled that individuals have a right to personal privacy which was grounded in the doctrine of confidence. Can the understanding of the observer achieve the same level of insight and authority as the participant in a religion? No serious student of religion can avoid confronting this question. The ‘outsider’ cannot escape depending to an extent upon insights from ‘insiders’ when studying a particular religion. They define what the problem is; they say what is worth knowing and what can be said. They produce the ‘norms’ against which deviation or abnormality is marked (the norm of ‘not being poor’, for example). But discourses are not just about words. Discourses shape and become institutionalised in social policies and the organisations through which they are carried out. This is not just a matter of the big policy ideas – the pressur Puzzling out the Soma cube The mathematical writing in Example 3 also uses diagrams but for a very different purpose. Eve?s Four Faces consists of a series of digitally animated and interactive surfaces. Their content and structure are derived from a collection of sources outside the conventional boundaries of architectural research, namely psychology and the broader spectrum of arts and culture. The investigation stems from a psychological study documenting the attributes and social relationships of four distinct personality prototypes; the ?Individuated?, the ?Traditional?, the ?Conflicted? and the ?Assured?.

The potential of Building Information Modeling (BIM) as booster of productivity in construction can be better explorer using
solutions of information visualization in digital environment, using tablets and smartphones. The maintenance of the project in
digital environment at the construction site has several advantages over the use of printed designs, enabling improvements in the
flow, quality and quantity of information in the enforcement phase. In BIM, this solution is further efficient, ex
