If the number you are dividing by does not go exactly (with no remainder) into the digit you are dividing into, you need to do something called carrying.

Say you want to divide 952 by 7. The process is basically the same as in the previous section. First write it down on paper. Then, to do the calculation, you take each digit from the number being divided in turn, starting with the one on the far left, and see how many times the dividing number, 7 in this case, goes into it. Although we can't make rules about what constitutes a poem, we can see that even when writing free verse, where lines and line-breaks may be irregular, form is still important. Free verse still makes use of technical effects: rhythms, grammatical structures, sound effects, etc. Also, it invariably still makes grammatical sense. Free verse, with its infinite elasticity, can recreate form anew in each poem, inventing a one-off organising principle which explains that particular poem.

You will already have identified the ways in which the social sciences are complicated by the problem of researchers attempting to know and understand the social world they inhabit. At this point it is useful to develop a checklist of the ways that this has affected social research practice.

Left and Right Agree: War Is Popular
Don't expect sustained opposition to war to come from either side, writes Andrew Syrios. This audio Mises Daily is narrated by Keith Hocker.

• In 1997, the newly elected Labour government set in motion the asymmetric decentralisation of the UK by granting differing degrees of political autonomy to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

• In 1997 referendums on devolution where held in Scotland and Wales. Their affirmative outcome in favour of devolution cannot of itself deliver constitutional entrenchment, but might reinforce its moral and political legitimacy.

In order to become an Act of Parliament a Bill will have to be passed by both the House of Commons and the House of Lords. A Bill may start in either the House of Commons or the House of Lords, with the exception of Finance Bills which always start in the House of Commons. A Finance Bill is introduced by the Government shortly after the Budget to bring the Government's tax proposals into law.

Before a Bill can become an Act of Parliament it must undergo a number of stages.
