Construction Timeline of the Kent State Hotel & Conference Center
The Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center in downtown Kent opened to the public June 14, with a launch event scheduled for October. The hotel is part of the million-dollar redevelopment of downtown Kent, and is a partnership between the Kent State University Foundation and the Pizzuti Companies of Columbus, Ohio.

Using off-the-shelf GPS and video equipment, Andrew Curtis, director of the Kent State Geographic Information Systems Health and Hazards lab, and his team of graduate and doctoral students have spent the past few years mapping the damage and recovery efforts in towns hit by powerful tornadoes.

Smartphone Use May Reduce Your Physical Activity and Fitness
Today's smartphones allow for increased opportunities for activities traditionally defined as sedentary behaviors, such as surfing the internet, emailing and playing video games. However, researchers Jacob Barkley and Andrew Lepp, faculty members in the College of Education, Health and Human Services at Kent State University, linked high cell phone use to poor fitness in college students.

To honor the man everyone called "Mike," the Del Mar College Music Department presented a Musical Tribute in the newly renovated Wolfe Recital Hall on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013.
Late English Professor Emeritus Mike Anzaldúa provided for students' education by leaving a gift of over $400,000 to support $100,000 scholarships each for the College's English, Music and Mexican-American Studies programs and through the Del Mar College Chapter of the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education.
