Williams is currently coordinator of End Poverty Durham, an interfaith coalition of leaders and organizations working to reduce poverty in Durham. He is also cofounder of the Religious Coalition for a Nonviolent Durham. In 2012 he retired (after serving 24 years) as the pastor of Watts Street Baptist Church, one block from Duke's East Campus.
