The broadside reports the news of Fort Sumter being attacked. The fort was fired upon all night and smoke rose from it the next morning. Reactions from Montgomery, Alabama; Savannah, Georgia; Cincinnait, Ohio; Providence, Rhode Island; and Boston, Massasschutes are given. On the tally sheet there are four sections, each with thirteen men's names across the top. Each section represents one of the four parties on the ballot.
