Building a Smart Energy Community

15 April 2011

The Building a Smart Energy Community was part of the EU Sustainable Energy Week and received excellent feedback from attendees.

The event was organised jointly with the Accelerating a Low Carbon Economy project and promoted the smart grid concept with presentations on its practical applications.

Phill Windsor, Project Manager for the ETC, said: “The Climate Change Act 2008 UK has binding targets for a minimum 80 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 compared with 1990 levels.  Therefore both energy conservation and efficiency and renewable generation schemes, large and small, have significant roles to play in meeting this unique challenge, as does active load management, smart metering and low carbon buildings”.
