Governance of the Private and Public Sectors: Distant Cousins or Non-identical Twins?

This Conference will explore research issues in the governance of both the public and private sectors. The theme of the Conference is intended to encourage papers that adopt of comparative exploration of issues of public and private sector governance.

The Conference will be held in the new Business School Building on the Jubilee Campus of the University of Nottingham. Accommodation is available on the Jubilee Campus for the evening of the 14th December. There will be a Conference Dinner at the University on that evening. The business section of the Conference will be held on Wednesday 15th December from 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Papers presented at the Conference will be eligible to be selected for a special edition of Corporate Governance: An International Journal to be published in 2005.

The Conference is sponsored by two of the Special Interest Groups (SIG) of the British Accounting Association.

The Corporate Governance SIG is chaired by Professor Istemi Demirag of Queens University Belfast who can provide further information about its activities. Members of the SIG may be eligible for a contribution towards their travel expenses to the Conference. Please contact the Chair of the SIG for further details. The SIG acknowledges financial and professional support from the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.

The Public Services Accounting SIG is chaired by Professor Andrew Goddard of the University of Southampton who can provide further information about its activities. Members of the SIG may be eligible for a contribution towards their travel expenses to the Conference. Please contact the Chair of the SIG for further details. The SIG acknowledges financial and professional support from the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.
