Dr Marion Potschin
Marion is Deputy Director for the Centre for Environmental Management and Senior Research Fellow in Sustainability and Landscape Development at the University of Nottingham. She was Editor-in-Chief for Living Review in Landscape Research and coordinating editor for the journal of Landscape Ecology.

She serves as an advisor for the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management and  is a reviewer for the European Commission’s FP7 programme and project evaluator for FP6 on Environment. She is project evaluator on ecosystem services for the German but also Belgium Governmental funding bodies. More recently she serves as a member of the focus group for the LWEC funded ESPA programme and is member of the NERC Peer Review College.

Originally trained as a natural scientists, for the last 20 years she is committed to inter- and transdisciplinary approaches to research and teaching in landscape issues. This experience turned into leading inter- and transdisciplinary project management modules.

Before moving to the UK she worked for 13 years at the University of Basel/Switzerland, where she obtained her PhD (1995, Soil Water Chemistry in Spitsbergen) and her professorial degree (Habilitation 2002, Sustainable Landscape Development); BSc, MA from Mainz/Germany and an additional MSc in Glacial Geomorphology from Carleton University (Ottawa/Canada).
