RLO: Descriptive statistics for interval and ratio scale data

Introduction

We use a number of methods to help us describe the key features of data from interval and ratio scale measurement. These methods fall into two groups, these are measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion. The measures of central tendency help us to get a feel for how alike individual measurements are to one another. The measures of dispersion help us to appreciate how spread out the individual scores are from one another.

The mean, mode and median are all measures of 'central tendency'.
