TTRI have been successful as part of a European Consortium to undertake a project under the EU's "Networks for the Competitiveness and sustainability of European Tourism" programme. The CAST project (Chambers Active for Sustainable Tourism) begins in January 2009 for a period of 18 months and involves 6 regional and 6 national networks of Chambers of Commerce and Industry across Europe and focuses on the SME tourism sector. TTRI's role is to provide the research which will underpin an eco-guide for tourism SME's and a series of best practice case studies, as well as undertaking a comprehensive survey of SME's sustainable tourism practices. TTRI's work will be led by Dr Scott McCabe and Dr Enrico Bachis.
