The DeHaan Institute (formerly The Christel DeHaan Tourism and Travel Research Institute) was established in 1998 through the generous support of Ms Christel DeHaan, one of the world's most successful tourism entrepreneurs.
From its position within the highly acclaimed Nottingham University Business School, the Institute built an international reputation for producing cutting edge academic and industry research outputs. The DeHaan Institute (DHI) was the pioneer internationally of the use of Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) models in the tourism sector. A selection of the outputs of the Institute can be found on this website.
In recent years, much of DHI's tourism research activities have moved towards the sustainability and marketing fields. Given the need to rationalise and focus university research activities and the fact that Nottingham University Business School has very strong existing research capacity in sustainability and marketing, the decision was taken to reconfigure DHI in early 2011 and absorb its research expertise into other focused research entities within the Business School.
