Travel and Accommodation

Travel

We suggest that you use public transport wherever possible. Parking in Oxford is expensive, and can be difficult to find.

Coach

There are very frequent (modern and comfortable) coach services running day and night between London, London airports and Oxford. As the services are direct, this is the recommended means of journeying to Oxford from the London airports. The journey takes between 1.5 and 2 hours. Buses from London terminate at Gloucester Green bus station, High Street and St Aldates, just minutes from college.

Gloucester Green coach station is approximately a 15-20 minute walk Pembroke College and also the main bus stop for national bus travel. There is a taxi rank in Gloucester Green market square, next to the coach station.

Rail

The city is around 1 hour from London Paddington and Birmingham New Street stations. There is also easy access from most other stations. Oxford railway station is approximately a 15-20 minute walk from Pembroke College. There is also a taxi rank at the station.

For information on routes and fares, visit the National Rail Enquiries website or call National Rail Enquiries on 08457 48 49 50 (or + 44 (0)20 7278 5240 from overseas).

Car

If you do drive into the city, please be aware that there is no long-term parking in central Oxford. Please also be aware that much of the parking around Oxford is for residents only. Unfortunately, Pembroke College has no parking on site for visitors.

Further detail on local car parks is available from the Oxford City Council website.

There are also five Park and Ride sites around the city. Full details, including a map showing the sites' locations, are available on the Oxford City Council website.
