Starting your Masters and need some guidance around studying at postgraduate level and preparing for the next step? Sign up for the ‘On Course for Your Masters’ NOOC (Nottingham Open Online Course).
‘On Course for Your Masters’ is an online course developed and delivered by Libraries, Research and Learning Resources (LRLR) for all taught postgraduate students. So far this year 764 Masters-level students from across our three campuses have enrolled on the course.
The course supports your transition to postgraduate study, particularly your engagement with the scholarly resources you need to succeed in your studies, and your preparation for what comes next, whether employment or postgraduate research. You’ll meet students from across the University’s wide range of disciplines, on our campuses in the UK, China and Malaysia, as well as those studying at a distance from all around the world.
You can follow the course at your own pace and at a time that suits you. You can also interact and share your learning with fellow postgrads on the course, and you will be supported by a team of facilitators including some friendly and experienced postgraduate researchers who have very recently been in your shoes… and succeeded! Live chat sessions will take place and certificates of completion will be provided to all those who complete the specified activities for each of the eight units.
Here’s what students have said about the course:
“This was great for fine tuning my search skills for more successful research.”
“I graduated from my first degree almost ten years ago. I therefore felt I needed the course to help my transition back into education. I needed help remembering how to study, how to reference and write essays etc. The course has been brilliant for this.”
“It was a good overview of the study skills I have used and also helped me to feel more confident about my ability to tackle the course and make the most of it.”
“I found it helpful to have a support network of other students as it helps you to feel part of a network and to feel supported.”
