There's no strength in silence #MensHealthActive.

The University of Nottingham Sport has launched a new initiative which has been designed to encourage male students to use sport and physical activity to help them maintain good levels of mental health.

The campaign is called Men’s Health Active and any student who identifies themselves as male is invited to get involved with the events in March and April.

The programme will be launched on University Mental Health day, Thursday 7 March, with a panel discussion and Q&A with special guests Etienne Stott (Olympian and UoN alumnus), Ed Tarlton (UoN alumnus and mental health advocate) and Andy Winter (Head of Campus Life at UoN).

This event is schueduled for 6-9pm on Thursday 7 March at David Ross Sports Village. Attendance is free.

Schedule:

6-7pm Panel discussions and Q&A with special guests. Light refreshments will be provided for all those who attend.
7-9pm Sport taster sessions including climbing, boxing, tag rugby, volleyball, weights based fitness class and basketball

Weekly sessions and talk shops

Following the launch event, UoN Sport will be running a series of different activities and sports which will be supported by talk shops. These sessions will run for five weeks with the possibility of continuing into term three.

These sessions will be supported by volunteers and qualified coaches/leaders, and a full timetable is available on the Men's Health Active website
