Description

Space Applications for Efficient Maritime Logistics Networks Workshop

This workshop is organised by the Satellite Applications Catapult Solutions. It seeks to understand the maritime logistics user perspective of the utility of satellite applications, the problems of and the opportunities to develop and improve services and applications. It will facilitate the understanding of satellite hardware companies, application providers and maritime network end users, stimulating the innovative potential of the UK's growing space sector and capability, and building engagement with key academic communities.

Its objectives will include:

  • Learning from users of satellite derived applications
  • Understanding current legal and/or policy impediments
  • Taking advantage of new and established technology (high and low tech)
  • Linking organisations and promoting global information sharing.

Agenda

  • Welcome to the Satellite Applications Catapult
  • Emerging trends and changing logistics requirements from a customer perspective, (e.g. requirements in the Arctic region).
  • Briefing on major current/recent developments affecting maritime transport logistics
  • Round-table discussion to identify three innovation priorities to address these market needs
  • Key people/companies interested in each of these priorities, and actions needed

A facilitated round-table discussion will prioritise key themes to progress within Catapult programmes and/or projects. Identifying a 'champion' with strong motivation in each priority will be a key objective of this process. In this discussion process, the potential role of a maritime transport logistics Special Interest Group, and interfaces with Transport Catapult and relevant Knowledge Transfer Networks will be covered.
