Space Security: Civilian and Military Policy and Practice
The London Institute of Space Policy and Law will be presenting a seminar on the civilian and military aspects of space security.
Space security is predominantly concerned with the protection of space assets, which can include anything from satellite navigation systems and telecommunications to the guidance of military drones and search and rescue services. Therefore the issue of security in space is becoming increasingly relevant in a world where economies, business and governments rely heavily on space based infrastructure and technologies.
The seminar will focus on the overlap between military and civilian priorities, the protection of space assets from security vulnerabilities, the repercussions of the use of weapons in space, and the increasing problems of space debris and how it can be combatted.
There will be four speakers, from industry leaders and academics to military policy makers. A full programme with details of the delegates and their presentations can be found here.
