UAS Workshop

Aerospace and Transport Technologies RPA

The Aerospace and Transport Technologies Research Priority Area invites everyone with an interest in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to a workshop, led by Professor Terry Moore.

Monday 14 March 2016 | Tuesday 15 March 2016
10:00am - 4:30pm
National College for Teaching and Learning
Jubilee Campus, The University of Nottingham

The aim of the event is to support the use of UAS for research, and develop industrial and academic relationships to expand their commercial use.

Increased awareness of Unmanned Aerial Systems, combined with ultra lightweight composites and smart materials, improved sensors and new ways of visualising information are changing the landscape for commercial companies.  As a result the development of new applications and markets is expanding rapidly.  The University of Nottingham is bringing together its experience to support companies who operate UAS through two workshops.

14 March  |   Unmanned Aerial Systems Workshop
A workshop that will explore the ways in which commercial UAV companies can work with universities to develop new applications and improve aircraft performance.  It is organised by the Aerospace and Technology Research Priority Area a multi-disciplinary group that brings together all aspects of UAV work being done by the University of Nottingham.  It will also allow companies to showcase their work and network with researchers and other operators.

This will be followed by an evening networking meal in Nottingham.

15 March   |   GNSS Demo Centre – RPAS Workshop
Those interested can also register for this additional workshop aimed specifically at the UAV industry.  It is being held as part of the preparations for the new UK GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) Demo Centre - partnership between government, industry and academia.  The University of Nottingham is leading the RPAS theme for the Centre, so we will use this workshop to canvas the needs of commercial users, giving them the opportunity to influence the priorities, and shape the future through an informed dialogue.
