The European Space Agency has announced that the 'Call for a Medium-size mission opportunity for a launch in 2022' is being released today, 29th July 2010, soliciting proposals for satellite missions to be implemented in the framework of ESA's Cosmic Vision 2015-2025 plan. The UK Space Agency is currently the second-largest financial contributor to this programme. As detailed in the actual Call, proposals covering any science theme and topic of relevance to the Cosmic Vision plan are solicited, with a ceiling to the mission's cost to ESA of 470 M€. The deadline for the submissions of proposals is December 3, 2010, at 12:00 (noon) Central European Time. The Call and the annex technical documentation are available on the ESA website
Through the present Call for Missions the Director of Science and Robotic Exploration solicits from the broad scientific community proposals for the competitive selection of mission concepts to be candidate for the implementation of one medium-size (M-class) mission for launch in 2022, following the launch of the first L-class mission. The deadline for submission of proposals is 3 December 2010, 12:00 (noon) Central European Time.
