Everybody needs to use government data, whether you realise it or not. If you are a parent you will want information on Ofsted reports, school league tables and average class sizes. If you are setting up a business you will need to know business survival and growth rates in your area. If you are buying a property you might want to know about the crime statistics in that area, what public transport is available and where the good schools are.
Accessing this information has, in the past, been a challenge. Now, with the launch of data.gov.uk, the government is making data more freely available than ever before. But even though there is a wealth of data available, it is not yet provided in ways that make it easy for the general public to use.
