Gender and Global Health: Where Have All the Men Gone?

Description of this TED talk video:

All of the top ten biggest causes of premature death and disability, and all top ten behavioural risk factors driving rates of ill-health around the world, affect men more than they affect women. In every region of the world, men die at a younger age than women do. However, a review of the responses of global health institutions finds that efforts and resources are focused more on the health needs of women. Why? This talk will explore the evidence of why men suffer a higher burden of ill-health than women, what might be driving institutional responses, and what we can do to achieve Health for All. The talk will be of interest to members of the UCL community who are interested in questions of equity, equality, and how evidence is used to influence policy.
